A wide empty beach at low tide with a thatched jetty in the distance

Experience

After the parks, not before

Three to five days of rest at the end of a safari, or on its own. The order matters more than people expect.

Why afterwards

Safari is early mornings, long drives and dust. Ending on the coast is what makes the safari sustainable, particularly with a family. Starting there means beginning the hard part already tired.

Stone Town first

Two nights in the old town before the coast. You arrive curious and leave rested, rather than driving straight from the airport to a resort and never seeing the island.

The tide decides

Much of the east coast empties at low tide. The north keeps swimmable water all day. We pick the coast around your dates.
