Napuru Waterfall: a forest walk on the slopes of Mount Meru
A waterfall in the Meru-Usa forest on the lower slopes of Mount Meru, outside Arusha. The drive out is short; the walk in through the forest is the experience, and it ends under the spray.
Where it is
Napuru lies in the forest on the lower slopes of Mount Meru, north of Arusha, in the Meru-Usa area. It is close enough to town for a half day.
The walk
A footpath through forest to the falls, which drop in a thin ribbon down a moss-covered rock face. It is muddy after rain and steep in places, so wear shoes you do not mind getting wet.
Who it suits
Reasonably active walkers. It is not for anyone who struggles with uneven ground.
Fitting it in
A morning or an afternoon out of Arusha. It pairs naturally with the coffee tour, which is on the same side of town.
