Serval Wildlife: a sanctuary on the slopes of Kilimanjaro
A managed wildlife sanctuary in Siha District, Kilimanjaro Region, holding serval, giraffe, zebra, eland, monkeys and ostrich among others. Close to Moshi and to the airport, and a different scale from the parks.
What it is
A private sanctuary rather than a national park: a managed reserve where the animals are seen at close range, and where the serval, the long-legged spotted cat the place is named for, is the one most visitors come for.
Where
Siha District in Kilimanjaro Region, on the mountain's western side, within reach of Moshi and Kilimanjaro International Airport. It is not near Arusha, which is why it sits in the Kilimanjaro group on this site rather than the Arusha one.
Who it suits
Families, anyone with a Kilimanjaro trek either side of it, and people who want animals at close quarters without a full park day.
Fitting it in
Before or after a climb, or on the way to the airport from Moshi. It combines with Materuni waterfall and the Kikuletwa hot springs for a day in the region.

Questions
Questions, answered
Is it a zoo or a sanctuary?
It is a managed sanctuary with resident animals, so closer to that than to a park. We say so plainly. A game drive it is not.
Can I combine it with Materuni or the hot springs?
Yes. All three are in Kilimanjaro Region and can make a day together.
